Police Accountability
Another Police Officer has been tried, and convicted, for
actions resulting from the performance of her duties.
How can we ever hope to have Peace and Security in our
lives when the Police are looked upon as Criminals, and
the Criminals are looked upon as Heroes? How can our
Law Enforcement Officers perform their duties when they
are threatened with Arrest, Trial and Imprisonment for any
mistakes they might make while on duty? When will we
take a stand against the anger and hostility that is guiding
our Society and demand a more realistic attitude towards
those who Protect and Serve us? When will we decide to
support our Police and provide them with the Legal Pro-
tection necessary for them to do their work?
Curfew
We have a Constitutional Right to peaceably Assemble and
to petition the Government for the redress of our grievances.
But we do not have the Right to Riot; to damage Public or
Private Property, to set Fires, to engage in Looting, or to
attack our Law Enforcement Personnel.
When there is Anarchy in the streets and it is unsafe to live
in, or to conduct Business in, our Cities -- something must
be done to restore Civil Order.
A Night Time Curfew (from 8 P.M. to 6 A.M.) would help us
regain control of the situation while still allowing those
with grievances the opportunity to express their views.
We need to protect both -- the Right to Protest and a stable
Society. A limited Curfew would accomplish this.
Our Elected Public Officials (from the Mayor to the Governor,
up to the President) have all taken an Oath to uphold the
U.S. Constitution and to enforce its Laws. They are the ones
who are responsible for maintaining Public Order. It is their
Duty to establish Curfews when necessary.
Moral Guidance
There was a time when America was strong ...
When we knew the difference between Right and Wrong
and we had a high Standard of Morality to guide our
actions. A time when we were Mutually Dependent upon
each other to maintain our Social Order and we didn't
need the Government to show us the way. And, most
importantly, it was a time when the Family served as the
Heart of the Community and we thought of our Family as
a Haven and a place of shelter that would protect us from
all the cares of the world.
It was our Faith that made us strong.
It was a time when the Bible served as the Well Spring for
all of our actions and we would find solace and inspiration
in its message of Peace and Love. It was the Bible that had
helped to guide us before and it is the Bible, and it's Ageless
Wisdom, that can take us home again. Hopefully, there will
come a day when there will be a new awakening of the
American Spirit and a rebirth of our Social Consciousness.
A day when we have returned to our Ethical Roots and we
will become, once more, the last best Hope for all Mankind.
