TO CARE
There is a form of consciousness that thinks
beyond its own, personal, feelings and considers
the best interests of our whole society. This way
of thinking does not excuse nor try to "fix the blame"
for any of our Social Ills, instead it concentrates its
full attention on finding solutions that work.
It separates itself from the heated passions of the
day and in that "immoral" stance it becomes the
purist form of morality of all. Selfless, benevolent,
without condemning anyone and working for the
common good, it is the highest form of social con-
sciousness possible.
Some call it ... Love.
AN ACT OF KINDNESS
It is the personal things that matter; a gentle touch, a
warm smile. To look upon a strangers face and see
compassion there, to start a new relationship with some
one special and feel the trust and understanding grow,
to give of yourself without thought of compensation, to
help someone in need and to share in their happiness
when their lives are improved.
To be patient. To be forgiving.
These are the moments to treasure, the sweet endearments
of our lives. They offer rewards for the most common effort
and help lend support when we are discouraged . A few kind
words softly spoken; " Dear One, I care about you, you are
important to me... I love you." Words that go beyond the
expression of sentiment to serve as testaments of personal
worth. They are endowments beyond measure these little
courtesies that enrich our lives, these gifts that come
straight from the heart.
MARRIAGE
Love can not be regulated by the government nor limited
by some ink stains on a piece of paper. It goes deeper than
that. Love is personal -- it comes from our hearts. If a homo
-sexual couple wants to live together, they should have
the right to do so without interference from the law. Their
feelings are strictly personal -- it is not a public matter.
Marriage is a Public Institution.
The Family Union it defines -- one man, one woman, and their
children -- has taken millions of years to perfect. No amount of
our "social experiments" can improve on it. If we are to have
any hope for personal happiness and stability in our lives, then
we must have a clearly defined "Family" as the foundation of our
Society. Marriage is the beginning of that definition, a life time
of love and the raising of children makes it complete.
FOR LOVE
Existence does not make sense without God.
It is an impersonal, mechanical endeavor with no redeeming
purpose, it is only when there is a benevolent Creator that
the meaning of our lives becomes clear. Love is the reason
why we live. To love and be loved in return, this is the reason
for our lives. Love is an act of sharing, a giving of one's own self
to another and in that act of sharing, to become more. To grow
beyond the limits of mere selfishness and fill the empty Void
with compassion.
There are some people who are skeptical. They find no meaning
for their lives and they do not believe in God. It would take a miracle
to convince them of God's existence. Let them go to the nearest
Maternity Ward and see the new born babies. Let them watch the
mothers as they cradle the babies in their arms, nurse them, and
tenderly comfort them. Let them share, for a moment, in this
miraculous occurrence. There, they will find the proof they seek
-- a miracle of new life, safely cradled in a mothers arms, the
confirmation of an act of selfless giving, direct evidence of a
Creators Love.
There is a reason for our lives, some meaning behind it all,
some justification for Hope ... there is Love. Thru out the Ages,
beyond the limits of our own lives, in endless acts of self renewal
-- the Love continues .
MANKIND
From out of the Cradle of Africa, our Ancestors began their
journey. A migration of families; mother, father, and children; they
traveled to new lands, their hearts filled with hope... they went
seeking a better life.
At first following the shoreline, later crossing over barriers of
water, mountains and deserts; barriers that would combine
with extremes of weather -- bitter cold, mountains of moving
ice, rising and falling Oceans, droughts and burning Deserts;
to isolate them and emphasize superficial differences of
character and appearance . But still, thru all the changes, down
thru out the centuries; the shared demands of need and desire,
continue to reaffirm our Common Heritage. With each beat of
our hearts, with each breath we take, we confirm our similarity.
There is only one Family -- the Family of all Mankind.
The blood line is strong and true, the history is in our Genes,
it tells our story -- we are of the same flesh and blood --
We are Mankind.
Dark skin or light, straight hair or curled, slanted eyes or oval,
-- we have reached the Far Horizon, we have made the Earth
our own. And now, as we have grown to our maturity, and we
begin a new Odyssey of Discovery, as we reach out to touch
the Stars, we can raise our voices in unison and proudly
proclaim on behalf of all Humanity -- We are Mankind and
We are One.
